Sourcing guide · Vietnam

Da Nang has become a practical base for wooden furniture sourcing. Before a first order, buyers should check six things on the factory floor, not on a quotation.

Importers who move part of their sourcing to Vietnam usually start in the south. Central Vietnam, around Da Nang, is less crowded and closer to a deep-water port, but the supplier base is smaller, so checking each factory properly matters more.

This guide sets out what to verify when choosing a furniture manufacturer in Da Nang, Vietnam, using the Tam Quang Minh factory at Xuan Phu as a worked example. The company has produced export orders for customers in the USA, Australia and Germany.

Key points

  • Visit the production floor, not only the showroom
  • Ask which panels and timbers go into each part, and where they come from
  • Agree a golden sample and a packing specification before bulk production
  • Check certificates and the documents your market needs

1. Does the furniture manufacturer in Da Nang own its production?

Some suppliers are trading offices that subcontract every order. A real factory has its own CNC cutting, edge banding, panel saws, assembly area and finishing room, with several customers’ orders in progress at once.

Tam Quang Minh’s factory is on National Road 1A at Moc Bai village, Xuan Phu commune, Da Nang, behind its own retail showroom. Buyers can visit Monday to Saturday, 7:30–17:00.

2. Materials: which panels, which timber

Ask for the material of each component, not a general “engineered wood”. Dry areas suit MFC or melamine-faced MDF; humid areas need moisture-resistant board; curved and load-bearing parts need plywood.

For solid wood, the factory has worked rubberwood, pine and acacia, and imported species such as oak, walnut and ash. For US orders, MDF and plywood come from CARB Phase 2 / TSCA Title VI certified mills. Our guide plywood vs MDF for export furniture explains the trade-offs.

MaterialTypical use
MFC, melamine MDFCabinets, desks, shelving in dry areas
Moisture-resistant boardKitchen and bathroom units
PlywoodBent shapes, load-bearing and export furniture
Solid woodRubberwood, pine, acacia; oak, walnut, ash

3. A dedicated finishing room

Finish quality is decided in the paint room. A separate, controlled room keeps dust down and colour consistent between batches.

Tam Quang Minh runs its own paint room with water-based stains and lacquers, which lowers odour and suits export programmes.

Ask where and how the furniture is finished. The answer tells you a lot about the factory.

4. Golden sample and packing agreed up front

The first approved sample becomes the reference for every later unit, and the packing specification should be agreed with it. Typical terms at Tam Quang Minh: MOQ 50 pieces per design, samples in 10–15 days, bulk production 30–45 days after sample approval, T/T 30% deposit and 70% before shipment.

See Export & OEM and export packing for wooden furniture.

5. Certificates and export experience

Certificates show whether a factory runs on documented processes. Tam Quang Minh holds ISO 14001:2015 for environmental management (Globalcert, valid until 02/01/2028); ISO 9001 recertification is in progress.

Export orders demand tighter tolerances, protective packing and timber documentation. In 2025 the factory shipped a 300-unit wooden pet-bed programme to a US brand, with the Lacey Act declaration prepared for US entry.

6. Real projects you can check

Ask for finished work with a name, place, year and scope, not only 3D renders. For pet furniture, see pet furniture manufacturer in Vietnam; for interiors, the projects page.

The bottom line: visit before you sign

A half-day factory visit tells you more than any quotation: the machines, the paint room, the work in progress and how clearly the team answers questions about materials.
