Wooden pet furniture sold through Fulfilled by Amazon must survive parcel handling, not just a container. This guide covers the packing points we agree with brands before production, from unit labels to carton weight.
Key points
- Each unit needs a scannable FNSKU label on a flat surface (commonly at least 1 × 2 inches).
- Boxes with several items are commonly limited to 50 lb and 25 inches per side; heavy single items need Team Lift or Mechanical Lift labels.
- Poly bags need a suffocation warning; ships-in-own-container (SIOC) cartons may need ISTA 6-Amazon.com testing.
- Agree the carton and labels at sample stage, then drop-test the packed sample.
Amazon updates its requirements regularly. Treat this as a checklist and confirm the current rules in Seller Central before you finalise packaging.
Unit labels and poly bags
Every unit needs an FNSKU barcode on a flat, scannable surface; guides commonly cite a minimum label size of 1 × 2 inches. Items in poly bags need a suffocation warning, and the barcode must scan through the bag. We print and apply the labels you send us, in the position agreed on the sample.
Carton weight and size
For boxes that contain several units, commonly cited limits are 50 lb per box and 25 inches on any side. A single oversized item over 50 lb needs Team Lift labels, and over 100 lb Mechanical Lift labels on the top and sides. Box labels carry the shipment ID and must not sit over seams or corners. We plan carton sizes and units per carton around these limits.
Protecting wooden furniture in parcel handling
Parcel networks drop and stack cartons more than a container does. Corners and curved edges need foam or moulded protection, flat parts should be separated with board, and hardware should be bagged and taped inside. For products that ship in their own container (SIOC), Amazon references ISTA 6-Amazon.com testing; a laboratory can test the packed sample before mass production.
How we prepare FBA orders
- Packaging brief. You send labels, carton marks and the target marketplace.
- Packed sample. We pack the golden sample exactly as for production; you approve it or send it to a lab.
- Production. Each unit is labelled and checked; cartons are weighed against the agreed limits.
See our export packing guide and OEM process.
The bottom line: pack the sample before you approve it
A sample that looks right but has never been packed and dropped is only half approved. Agree the packaging at sample stage and production follows without surprises.

Frequently asked questions
Can you apply FNSKU labels?
Yes. We print and apply the labels you provide, on each unit and carton, in the agreed position.
What carton weight limits apply?
Guides commonly cite 50 lb for boxes with several items, and Team Lift or Mechanical Lift labels for heavy single items. Confirm the current rules in Seller Central.
Do you arrange ISTA 6 testing?
We send the packed sample to a laboratory of your choice for ISTA 6-Amazon.com testing when needed.
Which products suit FBA best?
Flat-pack items such as cat wall shelves, bowl stands and small beds; large cabinets usually sell better by the container load.
